Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you might want to know about our products and how we make them.

What is your return policy?

We currently do not accept returns or exchanges. We greatly appreciate your understanding as we navigate the life of a small business — every piece is made or sourced with care, and we stand behind what we sell.

That said, we will handle any concerns on a case-by-case basis. If something arrives damaged or isn't what you expected, please reach out to us at [email protected] and we'll do our best to make it right.

What makes Japanese ceramics unique?

Japanese ceramics are shaped by centuries of craft tradition — from the wabi-sabi philosophy that finds beauty in imperfection, to regional styles like Jingdezhen-influenced porcelain and Mino ware. Each piece is thrown, glazed, and fired by hand, meaning subtle variations in colour and texture are not flaws but signatures. The clay bodies tend to be refined and thin-walled, and the glazes layered with quiet precision. When you hold a Japanese ceramic, you're holding something made slowly, with full attention.

What makes French ceramics unique?

French ceramics draw from a tradition of painterly elegance — bold botanical motifs, hand-illustrated scenes, and a richness of colour that reflects France's art history. Faïence from regions like Quimper and Gien has long blended folk craft with fine-art sensibility. French pieces tend to be expressive and storytelling: each brushstroke carries personality, and no two hand-painted pieces are identical. It's decorative craft at its most confident.

What makes our glassware special?

Each glass piece is hand-painted by professionally trained painters using premium glass colours formulated to endure high-heat environments — which means every design is kiln-fired to become permanent. The result is artwork that won't fade, chip, or wash away over time. Because every stroke is applied by hand and fixed in a kiln, no two pieces are exactly alike. You're not buying printed glassware — you're buying a painter's original work on glass.

What makes the fabric we use special — and what do we do differently?

We import our fabrics from Japan and Korea, selecting materials with patented designs and patterns you won't find in mass-market products. Every fabric is chosen for its quality, character, and environmental footprint — most of our products contain minimal to no plastic (excluding zippers), so they'll return to the earth gracefully at the end of their life.

Before any piece leaves our hands, it's pre-washed to minimise shrinking, so what arrives with you is already settled and stable.

Every step in our making process is slow by design and entirely manual. We create one piece a day — not as a constraint, but as a choice. That's what handmade actually means.
